Bio – Joe Igoe
I am a 65 year old ex- banker with a long and varied sporting history- and an equally long list of injuries and surgeries to boot. My training and history have given me an intuitive understanding and empathy with movement- both in regard to fitness and rehab.
I bring passion, knowledge and understanding of movement to bear when addressing your goals and needs. I want you to move and feel better no matter what your present level of fitness is.
My goal in working with clients is to improve stability, mobility and fitness. It’s about getting the best from your body. “Form follows function”- it’s more important to be able to function smoothly; i.e. move smoothly than look great and be stiff. And once you start moving well, you generally find that your body starts looking better.
I have been doing Pilates for over 6 years and qualified as an instructor with Polestar Pilates a few years ago.
Polestar is one of the leading Pilates schools in the world with practitioners and representation globally. Polestar accreditation requirements are rigorous with theoretical, practical and teaching skills emphasized.
I continually expand my knowledge and experience base by attending seminars, special training and consulting with colleagues to improve my clients’ experience.
I’ve experienced immobility and restriction from injuries and surgeries and spent a fair amount of time (and money) with doctors, physios, etc. I’ve worked with personal trainers and spent lots of time in the gym. All good, but….
Pilates has been the catalyst in improving my flexibility, mobility, posture and, yes, happiness. Being able to move without restriction and/or pain is a major contributor to happiness.
Pilates is a fantastic way to get your body in balance and aligned with gravity. You then have the right starting point for whatever else you want to do- whether it’s simply everyday living or more ambitious sporting or fitness goals.
Let’s discuss how to get you started!
